The Hyundai Alcazar SUV has received over 11,000 bookings since its launch in India on June 18. Hyundai said that the diesel engined Alcazar SUV dominates, with its petrol engine the Alcazar is also getting many buyers. The Hyundai Alcazar SUV has sold 5,600 units since its launch.
The Alcazar is Hyundai’s first three-row SUV in India and is trying to make a strong mark in the newly-emerging three-row mid-size SUV segment in the country. Despite being essentially based on the hugely successful Creta, the Hyundai Alcazar wants to make a mark by offering more space and features while packing in multiple engine and transmission options.
Tarun Garg, Director, Sales, Marketing and Service, Hyundai Motor India said, “Alcazar has received an overwhelming response from customers, garnering over 11,000 bookings in less than a month since its launch. This outstanding response reflects the affinity of our customers for high value, versatile and premium packages, which Alcazar perfectly embodies.”
With the Alcazar, Hyundai is choosing to upgrade from the Creta along with attracting new buyers. At a time when many of Hyundai’s rivals are going on petrol alone, the decision to stick with the diesel engine option is proving beneficial for the company as 63% of all bookings for the Alcazar are for the 1.5-litre CRDi engine. .
Hyundai Alcazar Petrol and Diesel Engines
The 2.0 liter petrol engine in the Hyundai Alcazar SUV produces 157 hp power and 191 Nm torque. With this engine, the speed of 0 to 100 km / h is achieved within 10 seconds. Whereas the 1.5 liter diesel engine gives power of 113 hp and torque of 250 Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission. It gets 3 drive modes of Eco, Sport and City and traction modes of Snow, Sand and Mud.
The 6/7 seater Hyundai Alcazar enters a segment where it competes with the Mahindra XUV700 and XUV500 as well as the Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. The car was launched last month with a starting price of Rs 16.3 lakh (ex-showroom).
