New Delhi: The C-segment SUV segment is quite popular in India. Hyundai Creta currently rules the segment due to its features and brand value. But surprisingly, this segment was not started by the Creta but by the Renault Duster. But Renault cut short this early lead by not updating the Duster. This directly affected the sales of Duster. However, Renault has now finally woken up from its deep sleep and is expected to launch the new generation Duster in India.
The second generation Duster gets a completely new exterior design. It gets a clustered LED DRL setup and a new chrome grille. The side profile is the same as the current one. At the rear, it has been given new LED taillamps and a new tailgate design. To complete the look, it will also get a new alloy wheel design.

The new generation Duster will get a modern dashboard layout with new headrests. In the middle, it gets a magnetite-like infotainment system. Other interior highlights include a 4-spoke steering wheel, a TFT instrument cluster and automatic climate control.
Globally, the Duster comes with various engine and gearbox options. For India, Renault will retain the current petrol engine. Current Duster comes with 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. It is highly unlikely that Renault will offer a diesel engine on the new generation Duster. Renault may offer an AWD system to compete in the market.
Prices of the new generation Duster are expected to start at Rs.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Regarding the launch, nothing is official from Renault about the new generation Duster. But the sales of Kiger have encouraged Renault to bring in the new generation Duster, so that the next gen Duster can be launched in 2022 this year.
