Several major car manufacturers in the country had announced aggressive planning with their product launches for 2021, however due to the second wave of COVID-19, new car launches were postponed for future dates.
Now as conditions begin to improve, vehicle manufacturers are now preparing to launch their respective products by the middle of 2021. Talking about the month of June, now gradually the lockdowns imposed in different states are being removed. Given this, many most awaiting cars are to be launched in June. These four cars are at the top of the list.
Hyundai alcazar
Hyundai will finally make its debut in the seven-seater category with the Alcazar SUV. It is believed that the company will launch this much-awaited SUV in June 2021, after about two months from its original schedule. The car will be available in both 6-seat and seven-seat layout options. It will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options with a choice of manual and automatic transmission.
2021 Skoda Octavia
The name Octavia has long been synonymous with the Skoda brand. The company had planned to launch the 2021 model in India in April, which was postponed due to the second wave of corona virus. After a long wait, the fourth generation premium sedan from the Skoda family is finally set to be launched in June 2021. The 2021 Skoda Octavia will be powered by a 2.0-liter, TSI petrol engine that generates 187bhp power and 320Nm of torque. This engine will come with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard.
Volkswagen Taigun
In an effort to further strengthen competition in the segment, Volkswagen may soon introduce the Tigun in India. The upcoming Volkswagen Tigoon will be based on the MQB-AO-IN platform with over 90 percent transformation. After launch, the SUV will compete against the Renault Duster, Kia Celtos and the upcoming Skoda Kushak in India. The Volkswagen Taigun is expected to be offered in two petrol engine options – a 1.0-liter TSI and a 1.5-liter TSI that produces peak torque of 148bhp and 250Nm. The former is likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual unit and a 6-speed automatic unit, while the latter may be available exclusively with the 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
Skoda Kushaq
By the end of June, Skoda will launch its mid-size SUV Kushaq in India. The vehicle is expected to arrive at the Skoda dealership by July 2021. Based on the MQB-AO-IN platform, the upcoming Skoda Kushak will take on the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Renault Duster, Kia Celtos and the upcoming Volkswagen Tigun. The SUV will be offered in two powertrain options. The 1.0-liter TSI engine will generate 109bhp of power and 175Nm of torque, while the 1.5-liter TSI engine will generate 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will be standard, while a 7-speed DSG and a 6-speed automatic unit will be available in 1.5-liter and 1.0-liter engine options, respectively.
