International reports suggest that this five-door smart electric SUV model will be made in China and has been given the codename HX11.
Smart’s Electric Suv
Smart has displayed a glimpse of the exterior design of his upcoming electric SUV at the Munich Motor Show this September. It is going to be the first product of the brand which is a joint venture between Chinese firm Jelly and German carmaker Mercedes-Benz.
International reports suggest that this five-door model will be made in China and has been given the codename HX11. Official sketch photos posted by the company show the rendering of the exterior of the car. The photos show the model’s raised silhouette, sharp headlights, wide wheels and roof bars. Smart logo is found in the rear bodywork portion. Other specials shown by sketch photos include hidden door handles, a large roof and several elements.
What will be special in ESUV
Daimler Group design chief Gordon Wagner said, “Our ESUV concept is the epitome of Smart’s all-new DNA. It is a visionary approach that creates a new identity for the brand – which will be more beautiful, sportier and of course, much cooler than before. ”
It is likely to be the largest car of all time, extending almost four meters in length, similar to the size of a mini countryman. It will be based on Geely’s SEA architecture which will also be used in a series of Volvo models to be launched in the coming years.
Features like digital key will be found in the car
According to official claims, Smart’s first car will feature a spacious cabin with a premium look and feel. It will come with standard features like voice control and a digital key.
There are suggestions from the Chinese market that the car will be equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor that will offer a maximum power of 268bhp. According to the Chinese NEDC test cycle range, there will be a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of less than 70kWh and more than 500 km (311 mi).
