The company wants to open its showrooms here in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Tesla has chosen Manuj Khurana, former executive of investment promotion body Invest India, here. Khurana’s job will be to handle policy and business and focus on the development of Tesla in the country. However, Tesla has not given any statement on this matter here at the moment.

EV sales are increasing continuously in India
India sold a total of 2.4 million cars last year, of which 5,000 were electric. Whereas in China the same figure reached 1.25 million which were electric. Tesla has decided to import vehicles here. At the same time, Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said last month that the government is ready to reduce the production cost of those companies here if they do local manufacturing of their products.

To open a car showroom, you first have to choose the place and its rent. For this, you also have to take permission from the local authority and the state government for the rest of the work. Here you have to fill many forms in which insurance, tax, business information, bank account, legal and local license are required.
