LG Electronics has recently shut down its smartphone business after a continuous loss in the smartphone business. Now South Korea’s giant technology company is eyeing to expand its position in the mobility sector. With this, the company has today introduced wireless charging solutions for electric scooters.
LG said it has set up electric scooter wireless charging stations at Bucion, west of Seoul, in partnership with local electric scooter sharing service provider KickGoing. Both companies will verify the utility and safety of electric scooter wireless charging solutions for the next six months before expanding to Seoul and other areas.
As reported by the Yonhap news agency, LG stated that 20 wireless charging kickspots are currently available in five parking areas in Bucion and they are installed with wireless charging receiver pads.
Cashback will be given on charging the scooter at the charging station
Both companies expect the latest solutions to increase efficiency and add more users to electric scooter sharing services. They are planning to offer cash discounts or special discounts for those users who bring their scooters to wireless charging stations.

LG, a board member of the Wireless Power Consortium, a multinational coalition in wireless power transfer technology, said it is also considering further synergies with KickGoing in relation to the personal mobility business. KikGoing, run by local startup Olulo, started electric scooter sharing services in September 2018 and has added 1.2 million customers so far.
Let us know that recently LG has announced to discontinue its smartphone business completely. The company has made this decision in view of the continuous losses in the ghats. However, its other businesses will continue completely and with this the company is planning to enter more sectors.
