Renault Triber Crash Test: Made in India Renault Triber has secured a 4 star rating for adult occupant protection in the crash test conducted by Global NCAP. The Global NCAP ‘Safe Cars for India’ initiative is underway since 2014. As part of the program, more than forty Indian-made cars have been crash tested by the security guards.
Renault Triber is the first car selected for crash testing in 2021. Tribar has got 3 stars for child occupant protection in the rear. Given the state of subcompact MPVs, these scores are important as an affordable mass-market product. This is also a big step for Renault India – as previous tests of the Kwid, Duster and Logi saw poor results.
David Ward, President, Towards Zero Foundation, said, “It is satisfying to note the safety improvements of Renault along with the results of Global NCAP’s Triber crash test. We will encourage them to continue this progress and encourage them to set a rating of 5 star or safe option for the Indian market in the future. “

Venkataram Mamilapalle, Country CEO and Managing Director of Renault India said, “It is a proud moment for Renault in India, as the Tribar was conceived, developed and produced in India. This latest 4-star adult (occupant) rating reaffirms that Renault remains committed to be the best in global car safety for Indian customers.”
The crash test was conducted at the ADAC Crash Test Lab in Landsberg, Germany and conformed to the Global NCAP protocol. This means that the car crashed at a speed of 64 kmph. Testing data revealed that the Triber provided good head and neck protection to the driver and passenger. However, the bodyshell of the Triber has got an unstable rating as it was not able to withstand the forward load.
Alejandro Furus, Secretary-General of Global NCAP said, “Renault has significantly improved safety performance in frontal crashes compared to our 2016 test on the Kwid.”
