Vehicle Registration renewal: On February 1, the government announced a vehicle scrap policy in the budget. It is believed that about 1 crore vehicles will be covered under the scraping policy.
Government departments will not be able to renew the registration of vehicles older than 15 years from April 1, 2022. The Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry has proposed this. If it is finalized, then this system will come into force. The Ministry has issued a notification for the amendment of the rules in this regard and has sought views from the stakeholders.

Earlier in the general budget presented on February 1, the government has announced the vehicle scrapping policy. Under this, it is necessary to undergo fitness test after 20 years of personal vehicle and 15 years of commercial vehicles. The ministry has issued a notification on the draft of the rules on 12 March. Comments, objections and suggestions have been invited from stakeholders on this in 30 days.
