Mumbai: In view of the increasing cases of corona in Maharashtra including Mumbai, the government may decide to impose a lockdown on the weekend. On Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held a special meeting with the COVID Task Force regarding the current situation of corona virus in the state.
According to sources, in this meeting, at present, a consensus has been reached about imposing a weekend lockdown. Apart from this, an important decision can be taken to keep cinema halls, shopping malls and religious places closed as strict restrictions. To reduce congestion in local trains, work from home can be allowed for non-essential service employees on the lines of the Delhi government. It will be officially announced after discussing this with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Ajit Pawar said that as experts have warned that the spread of corona virus will increase rapidly in the state, all necessary measures should be taken to keep the situation under control. He has asked the health department to be prepared to deal with this challenge. Apart from this, all the departments have been instructed to work in coordination with each other. The Deputy Chief Minister discussed the availability of beds in hospitals, oxygen consumption and production besides isolation facilities in the meeting held with the team of COVID Task Force. Apart from Pawar, Health Minister Rajesh Tope, Chief Secretary Debashish Chakraborty, Additional Chief Secretary of Public Health Department Dr. Pradeep Vyas and Chairman of the COVID Task Force, Dr. Sanjay Oak and many other officials and doctors were present in this meeting.
