Mumbai: Although many experts have ruled out any possibility of the fourth wave of Corona, yet BMC does not want to take any chances in this regard. For this, after the end of the third wave of Corona in the country’s financial capital Mumbai, BMC has already started preparations to deal with the fourth wave in Mumbai.
The BMC administration has requested the task force to guide them in dealing with the possible wave and if the fourth wave comes, when will it come, how will it come and when will it be at its peak. BMC Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that Kanpur IIT has expressed the possibility of a fourth wave of corona in the country in June, warning of a fourth wave between June 22 and October 22.
Most patients in August
It has also been said that between August 15 and August 31, the maximum number of corona patients will appear and after that the fourth wave will end. In view of this, the task force has been approached to deal with the fourth wave. At present, around 100 new corona patients are being found daily in Mumbai. That’s why many jumbo centers have been closed. In such a situation, if the task force will guide in this regard, then it will be easy to prevent corona infection. Significantly, the infection of Corona started in Mumbai in March 2020. After that, in view of the frightening situation of Korana, a nationwide lockdown was imposed. During this, Mumbai has faced three waves of corona in almost two years. The Mumbai model of dealing with Corona became famous all over the country.

Delta missing in Mumbai
Meanwhile, the BMC in its study has found that the delta variant from Mumbai has disappeared. Dr. Jayanti Shastri, head of BMC’s genomics laboratory at Kasturba Hospital, said the delta has been wiped out from Mumbai. Every subsequent gene sequencing from December 2021 onwards showed that the omicron in the sample increased from 8% to 100%, while Dr. Vinita Bal, an immunologist at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, said that there may be a delta key. The absence of presence does not mean that the delta is gone from across the country. We have to remember that genome sequencing is not done everywhere.
Only 5% of Omicron patients are hospitalized
After getting the full vaccination in Mumbai, only five percent of the patients who came under the grip of Omicron, a new form of corona virus, had to be admitted to the hospital. According to BMC data, there were 17 per cent of Omicron patients who had received the same dose of anti-Covid-19 vaccines and had to be hospitalised. In the 10th round of genome sequencing, 237 of the samples from 376 people were found to be infected with Omicron. All these samples were from the people of Mumbai.
BMC is ready to handle another wave of COVID. We can’t take any chances.
