Mahindra is working on the entry level variants of its new Thar lifestyle SUV here. The new model will be less power than the new Thar and the engine will also be given less capacity. According to the report, the new base variant of Thar will be given a new 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder engine which will come with manual and automatic gearboxes.
The 4 wheel drive layout will not be given in the variants and this vehicle will come with the rear wheel drive layout. The new base variant of Thar will be 100 kg lighter. There will be a focus on increasing the torque and fuel efficiency in the model. Small wheels will be provided in the SUV. Mahindra Thar has a 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder mStallion petrol engine that gives 150bhp power and 320Nm torque. The diesel variant has a 2.2 liter mHawk engine that gives power of 130bhp and torque of 320Nm. If you talk about the transmission option, then you will get 6 speed manual, 6 speed automatic gearbox. In standard, you get a 4 wheel drive system.
