To strengthen its business relationship with Apple, LG Electronics may sell Apple products at its 400 stores across the country after shutting down its mobile business.
Apple Store
South Korea’s fourth largest conglomerate LG Electronics completely shut down its smartphone business a few months ago and now the company is planning to sell Apple products at its Lifecare store. LG is doing this to strengthen its business relationship with Apple.
According to sources, LG recently did a special promotion for iPhone, iPad and other Apple products at Lifecare, an online shopping mall for its employees. According to the Yonhap news agency report, this was reportedly the first time that LG offered a mobile device from another smartphone maker for its employee purchase program.
The move comes amid speculation that LG Electronics may sell Apple products to local consumers at its 400 stores across the country following its departure from the mobile business. In April, LG Electronics announced that it would exit the smartphone business by July after years of losses.
LG is working to strengthen its business relationship with Apple
Sources said that LG Group wants to promote business ties with Apple for its future growth. The group is already providing electronics parts, including display and camera modules, to Apple. More recently, Magna International Inc., its electric vehicle (EV) joint venture with the LG Magna e-powertrain company, has been linked to Apple’s potential self-driving car development.
LG’s telecommunications arm, LG Uplus, has also started developing a compatible office working system with Apple iOS for employees using iPhones. Whereas, following LG’s exit from the mobile business, Apple has been trying to expand its presence in the South Korean smartphone market, which is dominated by rival Samsung Electronics. Apple recently launched a trade-in program in South Korea to lure consumers with LG smartphones.
Company to expand cloud based call center
LG will expand its cloud-based call center to provide better customer service and protect its employees from the novel coronavirus outbreak. The company has recently launched a cloud based call center in the US. Along with this, the company said that by the end of this year, cloud-based call centers will also be available in 10 more countries including Brazil, France, Vietnam and South Korea.
Cloud-based call centers allow employees to work from any location that is connected to the Internet, which will promote a work-from-home environment amid the pandemic. According to LG, its new system will help customers to communicate with LG call center employees faster.
Powered by Amazon Web Services and Genesis’ cloud solutions, LG said its call centers will also enable easy updates to new services such as chatbots.
