According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, airbags will be required for the front seat in the new vehicles manufactured on or after the first day of April 2021.
Car must have 2 airbags
There are going to be many major changes in the auto sector from April 1 i.e. tomorrow. While on one hand all automobile manufacturers are going to increase the price of all their vehicles, on the other hand another major change is going to happen. Under this, it will be mandatory to install airbags for the front seat in all vehicles. This rule will be implemented from tomorrow i.e. 1st April.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has implemented this rule a few days ago and a notification regarding this was also issued. According to the ministry, airbags will be required for the front seat in the new vehicles manufactured on or after the first day of April 2021. At the same time, in older vehicles, it will be mandatory to install airbags on the seat with the driver’s seat by 31 August 2021.
Previously it was the rule
Let it be said that from July 1, 2019, it was mandatory to install airbags on the driver seat. Under this, single airbags were compulsory in vehicles, but it is not enough for safety. Experts believe that the co-passenger sitting on the front seat is in danger of getting injured. After this, the Road Safety Committee of the Supreme Court had suggested about it.
How much will it cost to install airbags
If you want to set up the airbags in your car, then you may have to spend 5000 to 8000 rupees for this. However, some companies were not providing airbags to save money. These include Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki S-Preso, Datsun Redigo, Hyundai Centro, Mahindra Bolero, etc. With this, it is also being said that companies can increase the price of the vehicle by Rs 5000-7000 in the cycle of installing airbags.
Features are necessary for safety
Apart from airbags, speed alert, reverse parking sensors etc. features are also necessary in the vehicle if seen from the point of view of safety. It is believed that electronic stability control and autonomous emergency braking system can also be required for vehicles keeping in mind passenger safety from FY 2022-23.
