Kia Motor India announced on Monday that it has officially changed its corporate name to Kia India as part of its new brand identity worldwide. This change sees the removal of the word ‘motors’ after the support of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and it will now operate under the corporate identity of Kia India Private Limited.
In a press statement, the Korean carmaker confirmed that the name change is now official. The company said, “In line with the relaunch of its brand, Kia India is moving away from its traditional manufacturing-structure to the purpose-drive business.” In the coming times in India, Kia plans to improve its design, segment-first features, digital service and network.
Name also changed in manufacturing facility
The company’s logo and name have also been changed to its manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. This facility is one of the biggest facilities for any car manufacturer in the country. It has a capacity to roll out 300,000 units.
Kia entered India as Kia Motor India in 2019 and Celtos was its first product at that time. Celtos managed to give the company a solid position, and after that it introduced the Carnival MPV. It is a sonnet sub-compact SUV that has helped Kia to emerge as a stalwart in the market. In almost a year and a half since it started operating here, Kia has emerged as the fourth-best-selling car brand and the fastest car manufacturer to achieve 2,50,000 sales figures in the country.
Although the company may now consider adding more model options for buyers here, it focuses on improving its sales and after sales network.
