MG Motor sold only 1,016 units for the entire May. Retail business was also affected due to closure of most dealerships. This decline is likely to happen for most auto makers as well.
The company said in a statement that the retail business was badly affected as almost all markets remained closed during the lockdown for most part of the month of May 2021. The company had sold 710 units in May last year, when the nationwide lockdown affected sales. The carmaker said the shortage of semiconductor chips globally also affects production levels.
Kia India also suffered a loss
Compared to April 2021, Kia’s sales declined by 31 percent in May 2021. Due to the Corona epidemic, most of the states of the country were under lockdown in the month of May, due to which there was a huge drop in the sales of Kia. Kia sold only 1661 cars in India in May 2020.
Kia vehicles are performing well in India. People are liking Kia Sonnet and Seltos very much. In such a situation, in June, the company expects that there may be a change in its sales figures.
