New leaked pictures of the new generation Mahindra Scorpio have surfaced online and this time, we get to see new pictures of the SUV’s cabin. The photos give us mainly a glimpse of the new Scorpio’s dashboard and touchscreen infotainment system. While some parts of the dashboard, such as the head panel and steering, are still partially hidden, we get a good view on the central unit with a larger touchscreen unit, possibly an 8-inch look.
The SUV also gets a new, illuminated instrument cluster with a MID unit. The dashboard also features vertically trapezoidal central air-con vents and below the touchscreen unit, a set of buttons and dials for other in-car controls – such as climate control and audio systems. We also get to see some USB ports, a 12 volt power socket and a place to store cell phones, however, it is not clear whether the wireless charger will be part of the package.
The infotainment system is likely to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also, the gear lever seen in the pictures indicates that it is an automatic variant. Even though we don’t get to see the rest of the cabin in these pictures, the new-generation Scorpio is expected to come with a standard three-row, front-facing seating layout with better fit and finish, and premium interior trim.

What will be special in the new Mahindra Scorpio
Multifunctional steering wheels can also be given in this SUV as seen in the XUV700 test mules. For the exterior, the new-generation Scorpio production seems to be close to the phase, based on previous leaked photos. The prototype model is seen with several production parts such as a double-barrel headlamp, 7-slot grille, muscular front bumper and new alloy wheels. The SUV will also have sunroof, roof rails, LED taillights and more.
The new Mahindra Scorpio is based on the new-generation ladder-on-frame chassis, just like the new Thar. In terms of powertrain, the upcoming Scorpio is expected to get Mahindra’s latest 2.0-liter mStallion turbo petrol engine, which is capable of generating 150 bhp and 320 nm peak torque. The SUV is also likely to get the updated Thar’s updated BS6 compliant 2.2-liter mHawk diesel that generates 130 bhp and 320 nm of peak torque. Both engines will come with a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic unit. We expect it to be launched in late 2021 or early 2022.
