The Government of India has included Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani and National Health Authority CEO RS Sharma in the 9-member Advisory Council of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The main objective of ONDC is to promote open network developed on open source method and to promote e-commerce platform built using open network protocol.
The Department of Industry and Industry Promotion and Internal Trade, Government of India has started a project named Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and the responsibility of handling it has been given to the Quality Council of India (QCI). This service has been launched with the objective of digitizing the entire value chain and standardizing the entire function and promoting the supplier as well as increasing the efficiency in logistics and adding value to the consumers.

ONDC’s advisory committee includes Dr RS Sharma, CEO, National Health Authority, Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Infosys, Adil Jainulbhai, Chairman, Quality Council of India, Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General, CAIT along with Anjali Bansal, Founder, Avana Capital, Dilip Asbe, MD, NPCI. , NSDL MD Suresh Sethi and Retailers Association of India’s Kumar Rajagopalan.
Who is Nandan Nilekani?
Nandan Nilekani was born on 2 June 1955 in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. He studied at Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, St. Joseph’s High School and PU College Dharwad in Bangalore and after that he went to IIT Bombay from where he got his degree in Electrical Engineering.

Nandan Nilekani has been instrumental in providing Aadhaar numbers to 130 crore people of India. Apart from Infosys and UIDAI, he has worked in many high profile positions. The government has taken help from them in any difficult time and they have got many honors. In the year 2006, Nandan Nilekani has also been awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the highest civilian award by the Government of India.
