New Delhi: Gone are the days when automatic transmissions were considered an upmarket feature in expensive luxury vehicles. There is also a misconception that a car with an automatic transmission does not have good mileage. Times are changing and times have already changed in the case of Automatic Transmission Units. Today, the Indian market is flooded with car models that offer automatic transmission units. While it may be true that cars with manual gear shifters still outnumber automatics, the gap is narrowing all the time.
In a crowded country like ours, where most cities have traffic jams that can test the limits of patience and perseverance, automatic transmission makes driving much more convenient. And the price difference between manual and automatic cars is no longer as high as it once was for sure, with more and more people opting for clutch-less drives. So here are some of the most affordable cars in India with automatic transition.
Datsun redi-GO
Datsun is still not a common name in Indian households, or easily seen on Indian roads, but it is definitely worth the money. The redi-GO is available in six variants, in terms of automatic transition, there is an option of AMT 1.0T which is priced below Rs.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Obviously, don’t expect great overtaking moves, but it is a good option for the most part, especially in city traffic conditions.
Renault Kwid
The Kwid is one of the most successful models of Renault in India. This is because of the affordable price point at which it starts, one reason for the exterior update and also the fact that it is available with a five-speed AMT gearbox.
The Kwid RXL with automatic gearbox is priced at just ₹ 5 Lakh (ex-showroom), while the Climber AMT Opt DT variant costs around ₹ 5.80 Lakh (ex-showroom).
