Automobile major Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd on Saturday inaugurated a Rs 510 crore proving track ‘Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT)’ for its sports utility vehicles (SUVs) in Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. . This proving track will help the company’s engineers in testing the SUV products in various sectors and simulations.
The track is being built on 454 acres of land in the Cheyyar Sipcot Industrial Sector, located just 55 km from Mahindra Research Valley (MRV). All the SUVs of the company are developed in MRV. M&M Limited said in a statement that this track offers MRV engineers to conduct detailed testing of the product and prepare it for homologation (government certification) in this custom-made establishment.
Mahindra’s new logo for SUV portfolio released
Domestic auto company Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Monday released a new logo for its SUV portfolio. This new brand identity is in line with the company’s goal of becoming an excellent and certified SUV manufacturer. The company said in a statement that this is the beginning of a strategy change in Mahindra’s SUV portfolio. Along with this, the passenger vehicle dealerships of Mahindra Automotive will be made in completely new designs and colors.
However, the ‘Road Ahead’ logo will be retained for the commercial vehicle products and farm equipment sectors, the company said. Mahindra’s new logo has also been given with its recently launched car Mahindra XUV700.
Mahindra’s passenger vehicle sales doubled in July
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd.’s passenger vehicle sales almost doubled to 21,046 units in July 2021. M&M said in a statement that the company had sold 11,025 units in the same month last year. The company said that its utility vehicle sales during the period under review grew by 91 percent to 20,797 units as against 10,898 units in the same period last year. The company said that in July this year, sales of cars and vans stood at 249 units, as against 127 units in the same month a year ago.
Vijay Nakra, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, “Now we have more than 90 percent of our dealerships and workshops operational across the country and this has resulted in increased sales.”
