New Delhi: Jaguar Land Rover India has opened the bookings for its flagship SUV, the 2022 Range Rover, which has been launched at a starting price of Rs 2.32 crore (ex-showroom). The fifth generation of the Range Rover comes with modern changes to its contemporary profile, which made it an industry-transforming SUV five decades ago.
The British brand has put together a sophisticated yet almost silent cabin. It is available in three trim options, SE, HSE and the range-topping Autobiography; It will also be offered in the first edition trim.
It will be available in SWB (Standard Wheelbase) and LWB (Long Wheelbase) options along with a 7-seat option. Due to the falling roofline, westline and sill line that looks similar to the older generation, it is still instantly recognizable as the old Range Rover. Short front overhangs, boat-tail rear and split-tailgate make up the unmistakable Range Rover silhouette.
There is a new front grille with LED headlamps and DRLs, while foglights, radar, sensors and cameras are all hidden inside the lower bumper strip. The taillamps at the rear make up the most unique element of this gen, which are stretched vertically and joined into a full-width black string and are not visible until lit, the sensor in the black bar, Camera and light.
JLR has introduced noise cancellation technology and chassis refinements to deliver an almost silent cabin experience. The centerpiece is a floating curved 13.1-inch touch display with Pivi Pro software connected to a 1,600W Meridian Signature sound system with 35 speakers; The rear seat occupants are given an 11.4-inch display mounted behind the front seats.
The driver gets an interactive 13.7-inch instrument panel and heads-up display. Luxury abounds inside the cabin with features like power-assisted doors, four-zone climate control, rear-seat touch controller for climate control, seat ventilation and massage, and heated third row seats and charging ports. The optional tailgate suite includes speakers and lighting, as well as leather cushions in the split-tailgate.
Based on the MLA-Flex (Modular Longitudinal Architecture) developed entirely for electric, hybrid and conventional powertrains, the 2022 Range Rover currently has petrol and diesel engine options that benefit from mild-hybrid technology. The 4.4-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 churns out 520bhp and 750Nm of torque, an acceleration time of 4.6 seconds for 0-100 kmph and a top speed of 250 kmph.
The 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine is mated to a 48-volt hybrid unit along with a 38.2kWh battery to make a combined 400bhp and 550Nm torque and 0-100kmph acceleration time of 5.8 seconds. A diesel 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine is also offered in the MHEV configuration with 350bhp.
Its capability is something Range Rovers has always been proud of, and new is no less. Utilizing Unified Chassis Control which uses sensors to adjust power and grip to every single unit of the car to be deployed preemptively and reactively. The new all-wheel steering and fully independent air-suspension are controlled by Land Rover’s iconic Terrain Response 2 system that can either be adjusted to six driving modes or left to work automatic .
Dynamic Response Pro and eHorizon navigation enables the car to make changes to the suspension, differential, AWD, power delivery and other telemetry to ensure that the Range Rover can tackle any terrain at all times. 2022 Range Rover price in India starts at Rs 2.32 crore (ex-showroom) for the 3.0 diesel SE variant, going up to Rs 3.41 crore (ex-showroom) for the range-topping 4.4 petrol LWB First Edition.
