New Delhi: Lamborghini has started road-testing the prototype of the Strato off-road supercar. The idea that previewed the Strato concept was shown as an off-road version of the Huracan in 2019. Lamborghini spokesperson says that despite it being a working car, there were no plans to put the model into production. A recent sighting of a prototype suggests that the off-roader is finally ready for the customers.
Visually, the ground clearance of the Strato is much higher than that of the Huracan Evo. It is fitted with a set of roof rails on the roof. The front bumper has also been strengthened with a stone guard and LED light bar mounted on the bonnet. As earlier hinted by Lamborghini, the wheel arches of the concept could be 3D printed when it goes into production.

The original Strato concept was powered by the same 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 as the HuracanEvo, producing 631hp and sending power to both axles via a seven-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected that a retail model of the Strato will retain the rear-wheel steering set-up of the Huracan, but Lamborghini will receive a modified version of the LDVI drive mode system that is more effective at gripping on rough surfaces. ,
It is currently unclear whether the Strato will be a one-time project like the Aventador J and SC20 roadsters, or will be produced in greater numbers as a limited-run series similar to the Cyan FKP 37. Lamborghini has previously committed to launch at least two new products in 2022, with updates expected on both the Huracan and Urus SUVs.
