15 prison inmates will be appointed at each petrol pump. Outlets in Thiruvananthapuram, Veyur and Chemini jails have started functioning from today. Explain that to provide employment to the prisoners, the Indian Oil Corporation is making four petrol pumps in various prison premises in the state at a cost of Rs 9.4 crore.
On the question of the escape of prisoners during work, the jail administration said that the prisoners have been given training. They are being appointed according to their experience and ability. If they violate the rules, it will be the responsibility of the jail administration to act on them.

The jail administration said that the prison inmates are operating 5 cafeterias in the state. Many prisoners are also preparing food packets and selling them. On the salary paid to the inmates, the jail administration said that they will be paid on a daily basis.
A prisoner will be given 220 rupees for a day. Jail officials said that some prisoners are doing commendable work in the era of corona epidemic and also helping people.

Indian Oil Corporation is investing around Rs 9.5 crore to install four petrol pumps in the jail premises. The Jail department has a share of Rs 30 lakh to set up a petroleum outlet. Apart from the present three premises, it will also be started in Kannur jail.
