Barring Mahindra & Mahindra, Kia India and Tata Motors, the total sales of most companies have seen a decline in the month of January. There has been a decline in the sales of companies like Maruti Suzuki. Along with this, its stock has also broken today.
It is worth noting that yesterday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had talked about expanding the electric vehicle ecosystem in India. However, the FM did not make any major announcements for the auto sector in its budget speech. Here we are giving you a glimpse of the sales figures of different auto companies for the month of January.
Bajaj Auto’s overall sales down 15%
On Tuesday, Bajaj Auto has released its sales figures for the month of January. According to which the company’s total sales during this period declined by 15 percent to 3,63,443 units. The company sold 4,25,199 vehicles in January last year.
In January 2021, the company’s total domestic sales have seen a decline of 12 per cent on a year-on-year basis and have come down from 1,70,757 units in January last year to 1,49,656 units. During this period, the company’s exports have also seen a decline of 16 percent on a year-on-year basis.
Bajaj Auto has reported that the company’s 2-wheeler sales declined 14 per cent year-on-year in January, while domestic commercial vehicle sales grew 6 per cent year-on-year.
Maruti Suzuki India
The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI)’s wholesale sales declined by 3.96 per cent to 1,54,379 units in January 2022. Maruti said in a statement on Tuesday that in January 2021, the company had sold 1,60,752 cars. Besides, the company’s domestic sales last month declined by eight per cent to 1,36,442 units from 1,48,307 units in the same month a year ago.
Mahindra registers 20% growth in vehicle sales in Jan 2022
Maruti Suzuki India said the shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on the production of vehicles that are mainly sold in the domestic market. The compact segment also declined to 71,472 units in January 2022 from 76,935 units during the same period in 2021. MSI’s compact segment includes Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S and WagonR.
In the UV segment, sales of cars like Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross, Vitara Brezza, XL6 reached 26,624 units in January 2022 as against 23,887 units last year. The sales of the Eeco this year have come down slightly to 10,528 units as against 11,680 units in January 2021.
Exports for MSI increased to 17,937 units in January 2022 from 12,445 units in January last year. Sales of the mid-sized Ciaz increased in January 2022. The company sold 1666 units in January 2022, while 1347 units were sold in January 2021.
Mahindra & Mahindra
Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that its total auto sales in January 2022 stood at 46,804 vehicles. In the utility vehicle segment, Mahindra sold 19,848 vehicles in January 2022. Talking about the passenger vehicles segment (which includes UVs, cars and vans), the company sold 19,964 vehicles in January 2022. Whereas in the month of January 2022, 2,861 vehicles were exported.
In the Commercial Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 21111 vehicles in January 2022 with a growth of 58%. In January 2022, all light commercial vehicle segments of <2T, pickup (2T to 3.5T), >3.5T and heavy commercial vehicles showed steady growth.
TVS sales down
TVS Motors has informed that its overall sales have declined by 13.14 per cent year-on-year. The company has sold 2,66,788 units in the month of January as compared to 3,07,149 units in the same January last year. The company’s total two-wheeler sales in January declined by 13.73 per cent to 2,54,139 units as against 2,94,596 units in the same period last year.
Toyota Kirloska Motor has reported that its domestic wholesale sales fell 34 per cent to 7,328 units in January 2022 as against 11,126 units sold in January 2021.
Honda car sales down
Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has reported that in January 2022 its sales have seen a decline of 3 per cent on a yearly basis and it has sold a total of 12,149 units during this period. Whereas in January 2021, the company sold a total of 12552 units.
Kia India sales up 1 percent
Auto maker Kia India said on Tuesday that the company’s sales in January 2022 grew by 1.38 per cent to 19,319 units. At the same time, the company sold 19,056 units in January 2021.
Tata Motors sales increase
Tata Motors has informed that in January 2022, its total sales have seen a growth of 27 percent year-on-year, the company has sold 76,210 units in January 2022 as compared to 59,866 units in January 2021. In January 2022, the company’s total domestic sales have seen a growth of 26 percent year-on-year, while the company’s passenger vehicle sales have increased to 40,777 units from 26,978 units in January last year.
The company has also said that its electric vehicle sales have seen a growth of 5 times in January 2022 to 2,892 units in this period. Similarly, in January 2022, the company’s commercial vehicle sales stood at 35,268 units with a growth of 7 per cent year-on-year.
