Jaguar Land Rover India has launched its iconic SUV Defender in India. Its ex-showroom price starts at Rs 73.98 lakh. It will be available in two body styles in the country. The new Defender 90 (Three Door) ex-showroom price starts at Rs 73.98 lakh. At the same time, the price of Defender 110 (5 door) starts at Rs 79.94 lakh. The delivery of Defender 110 has started, while the delivery of Defender 90 will start from the first quarter of FY 2021-22.

Land Rover Defender has a 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol engine. Generates 296 hp power and 400 Nm torque. There is also an 8-speed automatic gearbox with twin transfer cases. The Land Rover Defender has no direct competitor in this price range in India. However, in the case of off-roading, it will compete with Jeep Wrangler.
The Defender Next Generation will come with an electronic vehicle architecture supporting SOTA (Software Over the Air). By this, the customer will get the updates without going to the retailer. The Defender has a 25.4 cm touchscreen with navigation features. The Defender has a 10 inch Pivi Pro infotainment system, LED headlamps, three zone climate control, multiple driving modes. The vehicle has a ClearSight rear view mirror, which uses live video feeds through the roof antenna. Due to this, the driver’s rear view of the car is clear even if there is a barrier in front of the rear windscreen.
A 38-degree maximum approach angle has been given in the Defender for off-roading. Apart from this, there is a water wedding capability of 900 mm depth. The maximum towing capacity of the vehicle is 3,720 kg. Roof load capacity is 168 kg. There are also Twin Speed Transfer Box (High / Low Range), Hill Launch Assist, Electronic Traction Control, (ETC), All Wheel Drive (AWD), Electronic Power Assisted Steering, ABS, All Terrain Progress Control, World First Configurable Terrain Response etc. .
The Defender will be sold from 27 dealerships of Land Rover in India. Customers will be able to choose the accessories of their choice from 170 individual accessories and 4 accessories packs. The 4 pre-customized accessory packs include Explorer Pack, Adventure Pack, Country Pack and Urban Pack. JLR India President and Managing Direct Rohit Suri said that Discovery and Range Rover were available in India till now under the Land Rover brand. Now Defender will also be present in India.
