Japanese two-wheeler major Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL), a two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, announced on Monday that it had registered 77,849 units in April 2021. This figure claims to be the highest monthly sales of the brand in the Indian market so far.
Suzuki sold 63,879 units of two-wheelers in the domestic market and exported 13,970 units from the country. As claimed by the company, SMIPL has registered an 18% increase in sales as compared to April 2019. Speaking about the performance of sales of the Japanese two-wheeler, Koichiro Heera, managing director of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd, said that in 2019, the company saw a 12% growth in the domestic market compared to the same month and 57.5 in its export volume in April 2021. % Growth is recorded.
He further added that, it is very satisfying that despite all the challenges associated with the second upsurge of the COVID-19 epidemic in the month of April, we have posted a 12% growth in domestic and an extraordinary growth rate of 57.5% in our exports. He also revealed that Suzuki Hayabusa’s third generation flagship sports bike has received 101 bookings within the first two days after opening the booking.

The country’s top two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp said on Saturday that it had sold 3,72,285 units in the last month, 35 percent less than the 5,76,957 units dispatched in March this year. The company said that sales in April were suppressed due to the impact of the second wave of COVID-19 due to plant operations in several key areas in India and the temporary closure of retail outlets.
