For the purpose of promoting electric vehicles in the capital Delhi, the Delhi government has made a new rule. Under this, electric vehicles will now get 5 percent reservation in parking in Delhi’s shopping malls, hospitals, hotels or office complexes. However, the state government has also added to this rule that there will be more than 100 motor parking arrangements, while this reservation will be applicable. That is, 5 percent of the seats in such parking will be reserved for the vehicle.
Delhi’s Energy Minister Satyendra Jain has directed malls, hospitals, hotels and offices, etc., with parking capacity of more than 100 vehicles, to keep five percent of the parking lot reserved for electric vehicles and their charging centers. Officials gave this information on Friday. He said that by doing this, more than 10,000 charging centers for electric vehicles will be arranged in the city by December.
Officials said that time has been given till December to execute this order. The official said that under the Electric Vehicle Policy of Delhi, these complexes can avail a concession of six thousand rupees at each charging center.

Kejriwal government of Delhi introduced ‘Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy’ in August last year. In addition, the Delhi government is also providing low interest loans for electric commercial vehicles.
According to the Delhi government, the purpose of the Delhi EV policy is to boost the economy, generate employment and reduce the level of pollution. Under the Delhi EV policy, the state government is giving incentives of up to Rs 30,000 for towers, autos and e-rickshaws, freight vehicles and up to Rs 1.5 lakh for cars. This rebate is in addition to the rebate received from the center.
