Hyundai Motor Company is planning to launch a new micro SUV in India soon. The name of this SUV is AX1 and according to international media reports, the company has named it ‘Casper’. The sale of this upcoming car will be in South Korea and India in other markets.
In India, this car will be offered with a different nameplate, about which more details will be revealed in the coming times. The Casper will be below the existing sub-compact SUV Venue and will be said to be the smallest SUV from Hyundai. It will be built on Hyundai’s K1 compact car platform that has been seen in the Grand i10Nios and Santro.
If we talk about the dimensions of the car, then its length will be 3,595mm, width 1,595mm and height will be 1,575mm. If this turns out to be true, the Hyundai Casper will be smaller than the current Santro hatchback. The length of the Santro will be 3,610 mm, width 1,645 mm and height 1,560 mm.

Talking about the engine of this car, it will get a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, which has also been seen in the Grand i10 Nios. This engine generates power of 83hp and peak torque of 114Nm. Reports also say that the trial production of the new Casper has started, while its full production will start in September 2021.
An electric version of this car is also being planned to be introduced and according to reports, the car can be introduced by 2023 or 2024. This car can be given electric motor with BorgWarner Integrated Drive Module (idM), a gearbox and power electronics in a modular unit.
How much will this SUV cost
The price of the new Hyundai Casper has not been disclosed yet, but according to the reports, it can be offered in the Indian market between Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. This micro SUV will mainly compete with the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. Apart from this, Tata Motors is also preparing to introduce Tata HBX in this segment.
