At present, if we look at the Indian two-wheeler market, electric scooter is the fastest growing segment in India. Since the governments of countries around the world are now emphasizing on developing transport systems under renewable energy sources, electric two-wheeler becomes the cheapest option for a common citizen.
Atsushi Ogata, President, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) said in an interview to ET Auto, “We may see an original HMSI EV product in the next financial year.” From Ogata’s statement, it can be inferred that it may take a year for the Honda e-Scooter to hit the roads.
Swapable battery technology can be seen in this upcoming electric scooter of Honda. Gradually, all companies are trying to shift to this technology because it is very easy to replace the battery in an e-vehicle. Second, it proves to be even more useful for long distances where it is difficult to find a charging station for the e-scooter. The company will give a similar offer to the users in which two options will be available. One, customers will be able to replace the dead battery of the scooter with a charged battery, for which the company will charge a nominal charge. Second, customers will be able to buy another battery as a backup along with the old battery, which can be replaced with a new one when the first battery runs out.
