Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two wheeler company, crossed 100 million units in cumulative production on Thursday. That is, the company has made 10 crore two-wheelers by combining both bikes and scooters so far. Hero MotoCorp is the first automotive company in the country to achieve this feat.
Hero MotoCorp said that its 100 millionth unit is an Extreme 160R bike, which was built at the manufacturing plant in Haridwar. The company said in a statement that it will continue global expansion with entry into new markets and will introduce more than ten products every year over the next five years, including a range of premium motorcycles. These will include new variants, brand new model R upgraded models.
Started in 1984
The company crossed the 1 million mark in 1994 after its inception in 1984. After this, it crossed the production figures of 5 crore in 2013 and 7.5 crore units in 2017. Hero MotoCorp Chairman and CEO Pawan Munjal said that the company touched five crore to 10 crore vehicles in just seven years. It further said that this achievement also confirms the capabilities present in India and the brand appeal of Hero. We are making products in India and making them for the world.
6 special edition
On this occasion, Munjal offered six special edition models at the company’s manufacturing plant in Gurugram. These celebration additions are from Splendor +, Xtreme 160R, Passion Pro, Glamor bikes and Destini 125, Maestro Edge 110 scooters. Their sale will start from February. Celebration additions were unveiled in the presence of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. All 6 are Shah Rukh Khan’s signature on celebrations editions.
Sales outside India
Apart from India, Hero MotoCorp sells products in more than 40 countries in Asia, Africa, Middle East and South and Central America. It has 8 manufacturing plants, 6 of which are in India, one in Colombia and one in Bangladesh.
