Hero MotoCorp, the country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has partnered with Gogoro Inc. of Taiwan to collaborate in the electric mobility sector. Gogoro Urban is the global leader in battery swapping and smart mobility innovation.
Under this partnership, the two companies will launch a battery swapping joint venture. In addition, Gogoro Inc.’s flagship battery interchange platform will be brought to India. In addition, the two companies will also cooperate in the development of electric vehicles. Under this, Hero’s brand and Gogoro’s networked vehicles will be brought into the market.
Pawan Munjal, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hero MotoCorp said in a statement, “Today, another achievement has been achieved in our journey. We will bring together the diamonds’ leading position in the two-wheeler sector and the strength of innovation and Gogoro’s interchangeable business model that they have demonstrated in Taiwan and many parts of the world. ”
He further said that this new partnership with this Taiwanese battery giant will further intensify the ongoing research in the R&D hubs of India and Germany. Along with this, the company also hopes that with this they will be able to help in the government’s electric vehicle plan. However, Hero is also hoping that with this partnership, it will be able to achieve a new record in the field of mobility in India.
Horace Luke, Founder and CEO of Gogoro Inc. said that we are at the critical stage of urban mobility and the transformation of the evolution of smart cities. There is a huge need for sustainable electric transportation and refueling in India with 225 million gas-powered two-wheel vehicles.
Let me tell you that currently Hero MotoCorp sells many electric scooters in India. The company started it with the launch of a normal electric scooter but now it is continuously making premium products. Hero currently sells many models with different range and performance. So far, more than three lakh customers have purchased Hero’s electric scooters like Flash, Optima, Nyx.
