We see a variety of modifications in today’s car. In such a situation, now if you get a bullbar installed in your car, then you can be fined heavily. Know what are the disadvantages of bullbars.
Bull Bars In Car
In 2017, the Indian government banned any kind of metal crash guards or bullbars on vehicles. With the introduction of the new ban, a new amendment was also introduced in the Motor Vehicles Act. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is using various social media platforms to warn everyone about the law and why you should not put up aftermarket bullbars.
According to the official law, the owner of a vehicle with a bullbar or crash guard can be booked under section 182A(4) of the Motor Vehicle Act. It clearly states that, if the owner of any vehicle gets the parts retrofitted in his vehicle, he can be fined Rs 5000 or jailed for 6 months.
Why were bullbars banned?
The primary reason for banning bullbars is to make road space safe for all. Bulbars can be dangerous to the occupants of the vehicle as well as to the pedestrians. Most of the bullbars are mounted on the chassis of the vehicle and during an accident, the bullbar transfers the impact directly to the chassis. In such a situation, it transfers the full impact of the accident directly to the people in the vehicle, which can cause further injury to them.
Bulbars can also be extremely dangerous for pedestrians on the road. If a vehicle with bullbar collides with a pedestrian, the chances of getting fatal injury increase manifold. Let us tell you that after this many car owners are now removing this bullbar from their vehicles and are again engaged in making their car as before.
are dangerous for car airbags
As we know, the Government of India has made driver-side airbag mandatory in every vehicle in India. Two front airbags will soon be mandatory in cars. Bullbars on vehicles with airbags can be extremely dangerous and can injure riders very badly. Since the sensors for the placement of the airbags are located at the front of the vehicle, the bullbar may come in the middle. Since the airbag opening time after a crash is too delicate to provide a cushion to passengers, a delay of even a microsecond can injure occupants.
If a bullbar is fitted, it will take the first impact instead of the bumper and then the sensor will not trigger the airbag in time. This can hurt the passengers very badly and in many cases the airbags will not even open.
