Air pollution remains the biggest problem in Delhi-NCR and the government is also very serious about it. Recently, a decision was taken to ban diesel engines older than 10 years and petrol engine vehicles older than 15 years in the state. Due to this, many Delhi-NCR residents were confused as to what they would do with their old vehicles. Now, Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot has made it clear that diesel vehicles older than 10 years can be converted to electric vehicles.
Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said in his Twitter post, “Delhi is now ready for electric retrofitting of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). If your diesel vehicle is found fit, [आप] It can be converted into an electric engine. Soon the department will share the list of companies manufacturing electric kits. Through this, diesel vehicles can be used even after 10 years.
Electric kit will be allowed to be installed in a diesel car only when the testing agency declares the engine of the diesel car fit. Vehicle owners will be able to replace their engine with an electric system only after getting the approval.
Let us tell you, at present, there are many startups in the country, which provide EV kits. Through these kits, people can convert their diesel and petrol vehicles into electric vehicles. The solution is quite modern, but keep in mind that it will also be heavy on the pocket. Being a new technology, the cost of these EV kits is very high at present. Some companies are selling these EV kits for up to Rs 4-5 lakh. Certainly, spending this much on a car that is more than 10 years old will save many people. It remains to be seen whether the prices of these EV kits come down in future after the technology becomes cheaper.
