Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz is going to introduce Mercedes-Benz Citan and its fully electric variant eCitan next month. The global premiere of this car will be done in August. This small van and its electric variants will be offered on the Mercedes Me Media online platform. This car will be the company’s compact model and will be given more space and better functions.
The company has said that the new-gen Citon will provide best-in-class connectivity and safety along with providing great comfort to the users. Its compact design and great space make it a useful car for a variety of purposes. Along with this, this car comes with wide sliding doors on both the right and left sides. Along with this, it also gets a low loading sill which gives access to the interior and enables easy loading access. However, not much information has been revealed about this Mercedes-Benz Citan and its electric variants yet.
Let us tell you that the company has recently announced its plan regarding electric vehicles. According to this, the company is planning to become a fully electric car maker by this decade. Ola Kallenius, CEO of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG has said that the auto industry is rapidly shifting towards electrification and Mercedes-Benz is also changing rapidly. “The tipping point is approaching and we will be ready to switch to electric-only in the market by the end of this decade,” he added.
Along with this, the company is planning to set up an 8 Giga factory so that it can manufacture its own battery for electric vehicles. Mercedes-Benz’s chief operating officer R&D division, Marcus Schaefer, had said that since the battery is the most important part of electric vehicles, the company will have to position itself in it so that it can achieve its electrification goal.
