Under its subsidy scheme, the Delhi government was given subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicles at the rate of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt hour (battery capacity). Under this scheme, the EV buyer used to get a maximum subsidy of Rs 1.15 lakh. Apart from this, road tax and registration charges were also not to be paid on these vehicles.
There are 12 electric cars currently on sale in the country which include Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor EV, MG JSEV, Hyundai Kona Electric, BYD E6. There are Mahindra e Verito, Mercedes Benz EQC, Jaguar-i-Pace, Audi e-tron, Audi e-tron Sportback, Audi RS etron GT and Audi etron GT. Now according to the new decision of the Delhi government, buying them will become expensive.

Subsidy will continue on these vehicles
The Delhi government has decided not to pursue the subsidy scheme for four wheeler EVs. However, the subsidy scheme of the Delhi government for two wheelers, three wheelers and electric vehicles carrying goods will continue. These vehicles will get a subsidy of up to Rs 30,000 at the rate of Rs 5000 per kilowatt hour (battery capacity). For these, the government has not fixed any number of vehicles for how long the subsidy will continue, such as for four wheeler EVs, the subsidy was to be given only up to 1 thousand vehicles.
