E-Vehicles : Electric scooters and motorcycles (E-Two wheelers) will be cheaper in the country. The government has increased the subsidy given for vehicles by amending the existing FAME-2 scheme to promote electric vehicles. Now the subsidy of 10 thousand rupees per KWh for electric two-wheelers has been increased to 15 thousand rupees.
Efforts to boost sales of e-two wheelers
The increase in subsidy by the government will boost the sale of electric two-wheelers. At present, e two-wheelers are costlier by Rs 20,000 as compared to conventional two-wheelers. But the government is motivating more and more people to buy e-vehicles by increasing the subsidy. This will go a long way in controlling pollution. Recently, a company named Ather has reduced the price of its flagship 450x electric scooter by Rs 14,500.

Preparation to launch e-buses on a large scale
After this announcement of the government, the sale of e-vehicles is expected to increase more. By amending the FAME-2 rules, the government wants to take the subsidy to 40 percent of the cost of the vehicles. She also wants to buy electric buses and three-wheelers on a large scale. EESL will soon be directed to purchase three lakh electric e-rickshaws. These will be used in different segments. EESL has been asked to ascertain the total demand for e-buses in Pune, Surat, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi and Bengaluru. At present, Gujarat, Delhi and Nagpur have maximum number of e-buses. These buses run for 200 km on a single charge. They have the facility to change the battery. On a single charge, it can last for a whole day.
