From April 1, 2021, two airbags (Dual AirBag) have been made necessary for the front seat in new vehicles. For old vehicles, this rule will come into effect from August 31, 2021.
Dual Airbag
In the auto sector, from April 1, dual airbags have been made mandatory for all four wheelers. From now on, it is necessary to have airbags in the front seat along with the driver in the front seat. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had issued a notification a few days ago regarding this.
Regarding this, the government has issued an order to all car makers to make airbags mandatory for the front seat of the car. In new vehicles, it has become mandatory to provide airbags for the passengers sitting with the driver’s seat in front. Apart from this, the deadline to install air bags has been fixed for August 31, 2021 for the old vehicles. The government’s purpose behind this decision is to reduce road accidents.
How the airbag keeps you safe
The airbag is a life-saving feature for any vehicle where it is now being offered in almost every car. According to the automotive industry standard, it is necessary to provide drive side airbags to every company. By having airbags on both the driver and the seat next to it, the damage done in the event of an accident can be reduced. Actually, in the event of an accident the airbag opens within a few seconds and avoids serious injury to the head and face. In such a situation, the probability of death is less. The aim of this rule is to make the journey in the cars of the starting range even safer. Due to the requirement of Airbag on both the seats in the car, the death toll in accidents can be reduced considerably.
No compromise with security measures
Actually, the person who is driving in an accident due to a car collision or any other reason and the person sitting next to him are at the highest risk. Especially there is a risk of life if there is a serious head injury. The airbag prevents this situation. It has also been clarified on behalf of the Government of India that no compromise will be made with security measures at any cost. A draft notification has been issued on the website of the Ministry regarding the new rule. This step will ensure the safety of passengers in the event of an accident.
It is evident that a large number of people lose their lives due to road accidents in the country. According to the current statistics of the Transport Ministry, in the year 2019, there were a total of 4.80 lakh road accidents across the country, of which 1.51 lakh people died. The government is trying to reduce the number of these accidents and deaths. New rules are made in between this and amendments are also made in the old rules and laws.
