Tata Motors has decided to increase the prices of passenger vehicles in its fleet starting May 8. The Indian automaker said that the price of Tata cars will increase by an average of 1.8% from tomorrow.
In recent days, Tata Motors’ announcement comes amid the decision of several other car makers to increase prices on selected models. Tata Motors cited the increase in material prices as a major reason behind its decision. The increase will be applicable to all Tata Motors passenger vehicles and the amount of increase will depend on variants and models. However, the carmaker has assured its customers who will be booking their vehicles by the end of today. They will not have to face the price hike. The company said, bookings received on or before 7 May will not be affected by this increase.
Shailesh Chandra, president of Passenger Vehicles Business at Tata Motors, said, “The rise in commodity prices, such as steel and precious metals, is in keeping with the need for us to control a part of it through an increase in the price of our products.” They increase the price. For customers who have already booked a car, we are providing price protection for all bookings made today (on or before 7 May 2021). This price increase will be effective for subsequent bookings (effective 8 May 2021). The product range is seeing strong acceptance in the market and we thank our customers for their continued confidence in the brand. “
Tata Motors currently offers a range of cars spread across the segment in India. The carmaker recently launched the Tata Safari SUV in February, and some of its electric cars have also been introduced soon. Apart from Safari, Tata Motor’s passenger vehicle fleet includes hatchbacks like Altroz, Tiago, Tigor sedan, SUVs such as the Harrier and Nexon, which also include electric models.
Tata Motors is clearly one of the top vehicle manufacturers in India in terms of sales. Nexon, Tiago and Ultraz are the three top selling models of carmakers in India.
