Bmw S1000r
BMW Motorrad will soon launch the new BS6-compliant S1000R bike in the Indian market. It will compete with bikes like Ducati Streetfighter V4 and Kawasaki Z H2 in the country. For the record, the bike is already available for purchase in the international markets and the Indian model will be almost identical to the units sold outside.
For 2021, the all-new S1000R brings several important updates to its exterior skin. Up front, the bike uses an all-new LED headlight setup that replaces the signature asymmetric headlights found on the previous model. The new headlamps have been built on the same design line as the 2021 BMW G310R and F900R bikes. Apart from this, other design updates on the bike include a remastered radiator groove, fuel tank and belly pan.
The tail section has also undergone a major change and now looks similar to the S1000RR motorcycle. The frame and swingarm of the bike have also been taken from the S1000RR sports bike. It has been updated with a Bluetooth-enabled 6.5-inch TFT screen that comes as a replacement for the semi-digital unit that was found earlier.
What’s special about BMW S1000R
The electronics kit of the BMW S1000R motorcycle includes features like three riding modes (rain, road and dynamic), ABS Pro, traction control system and hill start control as standard. Apart from this, it also gets some other optional features like Riding Modes Pro, Engine Brake Control, Power Wheelie Control and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).
At the center of the bike is a Euro 5/BS6-compliant 999cc, inline-four cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates maximum power of 165bhp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque at 9,250rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an optional Shift Assistant Pro bidirectional quickshifter. It is claimed that this setup gives a fuel capacity of 6.2-litres/100km or 16.12kmpl.
Upon launch, the bike is expected to be priced between Rs 17-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
