Auto Sales: The auto sector was affected by the corona virus in the financial year 2020-21. Sales of passenger vehicles have fallen by 2.24 percent in the last financial year. During this period, companies sold 27,11,457 passenger vehicles, while a total of 27,73,519 passenger vehicles were sold in the year-ago period. Talking of all the categories combined, there has been a decline of 13.6 percent in vehicle sales. Industry body SIAM has released this data. Let us know that the slowdown has been going on in the auto sector for the last several months. Sales have improved in the subsequent months in FY 2021, but overall it declined.
Sales of two wheelers decreased by 13%
There has been a decline of 13.19 per cent in the sales of two wheelers in FY 2021. During this period, companies sold a total of 1,51,19,387 units, while 1,74,16,432 two-wheelers were sold in FY 2020.
Sales of commercial vehicles decreased by 21%
Talking about commercial vehicles, sales fell by 20.77 percent in the last financial year. During this period, 5,68,559 units of commercial vehicles were sold. Whereas in FY 2020, 7,17,593 commercial vehicles were sold.
Three wheelers sales down 66%
Talking about the three wheelers, there was a 60 per cent decline in sales in the last financial year. During this period, 2,16,197 units of three wheelers were sold. While in FY 2020, 6,37,065 three wheelers were sold.
Overall 13.6% decrease in sales
Talking of all the categories combined, there has been a decline of 13.6 percent in vehicle sales. In FY 2021, a total of 1,86,15,588 units were sold, while in FY 2020, a total of 2,15,45,551 units were sold.
