The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki India said on Thursday that its total production in July grew by 58 percent year-on-year to 1,70,719 units. The company told in the information given to the stock market that in the same month of last year, its total production was 1,07,687 units.
Maruti said in a statement, “The number of vehicles registered in July this year is more than the number of vehicles registered in July last year. However, this comparison does not make sense as the situation in July last year was significantly affected by the restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. In this it was of 1,05,345 units.
The company’s production of small vehicles like Alto and S Presso stood at 24,899 units in July, as against 20,638 units in July 2020. At the same time, the production of Wagon R, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, Baleno and Dzire increased to 90,604 units during this period. In July last year, the production of these vehicles was 55,390 units.

The company’s sales in the domestic market increased by 39 percent to 1,41,238 units as against 1,01,307 units in the same month a year ago. The sales of the company’s mini cars – Alto and Wagon R stood at 19,685 units as against 17,258 units in July, 2020.
The compact segment – Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and DZire sold 70,268 units as against 51,529 units a year ago. The company sold 1,450 units of the mid-size sedan Ciaz in this month. A year ago this figure was of 1,303 units. Sales of the company’s utility vehicles – Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga – stood at 32,272 units as against 19,177 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s exports increased to 21,224 units in July, from 6,757 units in the same month a year ago.
