Amazon India has recently announced working with Mahindra Electric to add more electric vehicles (EVs) to its delivery fleet. 10 thousand electric vehicles will be added for delivery
Amazon India said that its supply service partners are already operating multi-format electric vehicles in more than 20 cities in India, including Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Bhopal, Indore and Coimbatore. Amazon has targeted to include 10,000 electric vehicles in its delivery fleet by 2025.
Nitin Gadkari gave the green signal
Nitin Gadkari flagged off Amazon’s fleet of electric vehicles at Sambhav Summit, 2021 (Amazon’s Smbhav Summit). On this occasion, Gadkari said that as we enter the 75th year of independence, we need to pay attention to our collective efforts for a green and sustainable India. “I would like to congratulate Amazon for becoming the first company to sign a climate commitment by declaring Net Zero Carbon’s commitment to the entire business 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement goal,” he said.
Amazon has co-founded the Climate Commitment in 2019, which is 10 years ahead of the Paris Agreement target and a commitment to Net-Zero Carbon by 2040. The signatories to this commitment include Infosys, IBM, Unilever, Verizon, Siemens and Microsoft.
Nitin Gadkari said that he wants to see India’s automobile industry in the first place in the world. For this, the government is encouraging manufacturers to produce vehicles with ethanol, methanol, bio-CNG, electric and electric and mixed fuel engines.
