Hayabusa Inspired Electric Bike 2
UK-based White Motorcycle Concepts has introduced the WMC250EV, an electric bike prototype that aims to set a new electric land speed record. It intends to break the 367 kmph record set by electric bike MotoGP legend Max Biaggi on the Voxon Waterman last year and achieve a top speed of 400 kmph.
Unique aerodynamic design has been given in this prototype. According to reports, its body design is inspired by the second generation Suzuki Hayabusa. The duct is placed in the center of this bike, which is named V-air. It is said that it reduces the drag coefficient of the electric bike by around 70%. This design allows air to escape from the bike and not from all sides. This design does not include winglets which are usually added to increase the downforce, however, the EV manufacturer claims that the WMC250EV has five times the front load as compared to the normal bike.
In this electric bike, a 30kW motor has been given for the rear wheel and two 20kW motors have been given for the front wheel which can generate power of 134 hp. Though it doesn’t seem like much to match the power of a petrol-powered bike, but the company says that it is enough to run the bike at speed. Reports also say that by 2022, when the company tries to set a world record in Bolivia salt flats, the company will increase the power of the bike.
For effective power transmission, the company has fitted a machined alloy swingarm which helps the bike to remain dirt free and continuously lubricates the drive and driven sprocket. The weight of this bike is 300 kg and it has been supported by twin 340 mm discs in the front and 310 mm discs in the rear. These are sourced from EBC and connected with HEL brake line. It runs on Dimag aluminum 17-inch alloy shod which comes with Pirelli slicks and helps in keeping wheelspin to a minimum.
