E-Amrit Web Portal: India today launched a web portal on Electric Vehicles (EV) ‘E-Amrit’ (e-Amrit) at the ongoing COP26 summit in Glasgow, UK. E-Amrit is a one-stop destination for all information about Electric Vehicles. It will have all kinds of information related to the purchase of electric vehicles, investment opportunities, policies and subsidies. This portal has been launched under the Collaborative Knowledge Exchange Program with the UK Government. It is developed and hosted by NITI Aayog. The initiative is a part of the UK-India Joint Roadmap 2030, which has been signed by the Prime Ministers of both the countries.

Awareness will increase about electric vehicles
One of the objectives of this initiative is to make consumers aware about the benefits of electric vehicles. In recent times, India has taken several initiatives to accelerate the decarbonization of transport and the adoption of electric mobility in the country. Schemes like FAME and PLI have been started for early adoption of electric vehicles by the people.

NITI Aayog wants to make this portal more user friendly and wants to add more features to it. The launch was attended by UK’s High-Level Climate Action Champion Nigel Topping and NITI Aayog Advisor Sudhendu Jyoti Sinha. A study by the CEEW Center for Energy Finance (CEEW-CEF) states that India is expected to create an EV market worth Rs 14.42 lakh crore by 2030. It said that an investment of Rs 12.5 lakh crore would be required to achieve this target.
