To promote tourism, operators will be issued All India Tourist Permit within 30 days of online application. The government gave this information on Sunday. The new rules will come into effect from April 1, 2021.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced a new scheme. Under this, any tourist vehicle operator will be able to apply for an All India Tourist Permit online.
The ministry said in a statement that the permit will be issued within 30 days of submission of the relevant documents and fees along with the application. The new set of rules will be called the ‘All India Tourist Vehicle Permission and Permit Rules, 2021’. The existing permit will remain in force for the duration of its validity.
Tourism will get a boost
The statement said, “The new permit rules are expected to go a long way to promote tourism in states in our country. Along with this, the revenue of the state governments will also get a boost. This rule has come when the Ministry is trying to provide uninterrupted movement of tourist passenger vehicles after the success of cargo vehicles under the national permit system.
Apart from this, it has also been said in the statement that the scheme also provides flexibility in authorization or permits for three months or up to manifold. However, it will be applicable for a period of more than three years. The government said that this provision has been included keeping in mind the areas of the country where there is limited season of tourism and also for the operators who have limited financial capacity. It will consolidate a central database for all authorizations or permits, which will provide information about tourist movement, improvement scope and promotion of tourism.
