Airtel Payments Bank (Airtel Payments Bank) means APB is planning to increase the number of account holders in the next two-three years with its new safety tool Safe Pay. The APB is aiming to increase the number of account holders from five crore to 10 crore. Airtel Payments Bank MD Anubrata Biswas said, “We have covered most of the people in 1/6 villages, unbanked and under-banked areas of India but locals had to travel long distances to reach the nearest bank branch.”
In India, about 170 – 180 million people have payment bank accounts, while the remaining 200 million smartphone users are yet to be associated with this digital finance service. According to a recent survey, fear of digital fraud is the major reason for not adopting this method of banking, about 47% of smartphone users agree. According to Anubrata Biswas, through APB’s Safe Pay tool, users will be able to overcome the fear of fraud and the number of new users will increase. He has assured that after the introduction of this new tool, 90 percent of the users will turn to Airtel Payments Bank and nine out of ten people will tell their close ones to use it.
10 lakh users are using Safe Pay
Explain that apart from the new safety tool, users are already being given the option of password and OTP for money transfer. The MD of Airtel Payments Bank says that already more than 10 lakh users have started using Safe Pay regularly. It will gain an edge with greater awareness towards the world’s first innovation, which is available to every digital Airtel consumer.
Anubrata Biswas said, Airtel Payments Bank has been registering a growth of about 5-7% month-on-month in its deposit base continuously for the last six months. He said, “Our savings account customer base has increased during the epidemic, mainly in rural areas. Today, we are present in one lakh villages. People have moved towards digital payments during COVID. ”
