The Jeep Compass based 7-seater SUV is likely to make its global debut with the Meridian and Commander nameplates in the Indian and Brazilian markets respectively by August 26 this year. Jeep is developing a 7-seater SUV. The three-row SUV from the American carmaker will be based on the Jeep Compass. It has been seen many times in the past during testing and heavy camo has also been installed in it. The upcoming model is likely to be called the Jeep Meridian in the Indian market.
It is expected to be named Jeep Commander in Brazil. The global debut of this model is expected on August 26 this year. Based on the compass, the Meridian/Commander will claim the increased dimensions. Also, the interiors will be more refined than the Compass as the 7-seater SUV will fit between the Compass and the larger Grand Cherokee in the brand’s line-up. A teaser of the brand has already been shown, revealing the name of the 7-seater SUV – Commander.
The leaked images hint at the design of the Meridian. It will look like a scaled-down version of the Grand Cherokee. The traditional 7-slat grille will look better at the front. A high-set bonnet, rectangular headlamps and other SUV highlights will make the Commander a force to be reckoned with.
What will be special in 7-seater Jeep SUV
The rear may come with a light bar with a chrome ribbon. It will also get an integrated roof spoiler. It is expected that this 7-seater SUV will have a lot of features. A 10.1-inch touchscreen will be housed on the center console, which offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Jeep will also offer two seating configurations – 6-seater and 7-seater layout. In the Brazilian market, the Commander will go on sale with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with a 1.3-litre turboflex petrol motor. Similar powertrain options are expected to be available on the India-spec model – Meridian.
