With its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, Vedanta Group company and national steel player ESL Steel Ltd., with a target to convert all vehicles to electric vehicles by 2025, have launched all vehicles for the movement of their employees in Bokaro under the ESL Ride Green initiative. have started converting to electric vehicles. The goal of this campaign is to reduce the carbon footprint, consumption of fossil fuels and emissions of greenhouse gases.
This initiative of ESL will reduce carbon emissions by 430 tonnes annually, as electric vehicles are environment friendly as compared to conventional vehicles running on petrol or diesel. Apart from this, the noise from these vehicles is also reduced, which will also help in reducing the level of noise pollution. At the same time, electric vehicles are also safe, because they do not use any kind of flammable material. These vehicles are designed in such a way that the chances of accident or collision in them are very less.
The goal of fully electric vehicle adoption
Speaking on the occasion NL Vette, CEO, ESL Steel Limited said, “ESL is the first business of Vedanta Group to introduce electric vehicles for employees at its plant premises. I am happy that we are moving towards the goal of fully adopting electric vehicles, which are the future of India. By converting our cars to electric vehicles, we are moving closer to the goal of making India a sustainable steel player and we are working hard to achieve this goal at the earliest. With this initiative, we also want to inspire other corporates to follow the path of sustainability to make India green and clean. I want to thank everyone associated with us for this noble cause. Electric vehicles being used in the plant campus
The company is working on various electric and hybrid vehicle solutions to build a sustainable future for India. This year on the occasion of Republic Day, ESL launched 40 e-cycles and 10 e-scooters in partnership with electric vehicle subscription platform EVZ as part of its ESL Rides Green campaign. Presently electric vehicles are being used by the employees of ESL in the plant campus.
In the next phase, ESL plans to convert its buses to electric vehicles. The company has set a target to convert all its vehicles to electric vehicles by 2025.
