The country’s leading automaker Maruti Suzuki has informed that it has sold 1.36 lakh units in July. Along with this, the company has exported 21,224 units in July itself. The company has informed that it has sold 1.33 lakh units of passenger vehicles in the domestic market, which is an increase of 97,768 units since July 2020. The company said that due to Covid-19 last year as well as present, it cannot present an accurate picture of year-on-year comparison.
The company sold 70,268 units in the compact sub-segment which includes vehicles like WagonR, Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire. Along with this, a total of 19,685 units of Alto and S-Presso were sold. Along with this, if we talk about utility vehicles, then the company sold 32,272 units in it last month which includes cars like Ertiga, XL6 and Vitara Brezza. Apart from this, the company’s exports have also increased in which the company exported a total of 21,224 units, which was only 6,757 units in July, 2020.
Maruti Suzuki made profit of Rs 475 crore
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 475 crore since the end of the first quarter of the current financial year. Due to this, the company had a net loss of Rs 268 crore in the same quarter of the previous financial year. Due to the second wave of COVID-19 in the first quarter, the production and sales of the company were badly affected. However, the situation was not as bad as the April-June quarter of the previous financial year.
Maruti Suzuki said, “Though the first quarter figures were better on all parameters than the corresponding period of the previous financial year, but it cannot be compared. In the same quarter of the previous financial year, there were more disruptions due to the pandemic.” The company said that its total operating income increased to Rs 17,776 crore during the quarter from Rs 4,111 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
Total 3,53,614 vehicles sold in the first quarter
The company sold a total of 3,53,614 vehicles during the quarter. The company’s sales in the domestic market stood at 3,08,095 units. At the same time, the company exported 45,519 vehicles during this period. In the same quarter of the previous financial year, the company sold 67,027 vehicles in the domestic market and exported 9,572 vehicles. The company’s net profit stood at Rs 441 crore during the quarter on a standalone basis. The company had a net loss of Rs 249 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
