According to reports, Tesla may introduce its car in India this year and the company has written a letter to the ministry and NITI Aayog demanding a reduction in import duty.
People are eagerly waiting for the launch of electric cars of America’s popular electric car company Tesla in India. Regarding this, a Twitter user requested Tesla CEO Elon Musk to launch the car in India as soon as possible, to which the CEO of the company has given a tremendous answer.
Tagging Elon Musk on Twitter, a user wrote that, please launch the Tesla car in India as soon as possible. Responding to this, Musk wrote that “We want to do this, but the import duty is the highest in the world than any major country! Also, clean energy vehicles are treated on par with diesel or petrol, which does not seem to be fully in line with India’s climate goals.”
Simultaneously, Musk said in another tweet, “But we hope there will be at least one temporary tariff relief for electric vehicles. It would be greatly appreciated.”
According to reports, Tesla can present its car in India this year. Along with this, the company has written a letter to the Ministry and NITI Aayog asking to reduce its import duty. According to sources, the company has asked to reduce the import tax for fully assembled electric cars to 40 percent, which would be much better.
If we talk about now, at present it is 60 percent tax for cars costing less than $ 40,000 and 100 percent for cars costing more than $ 40 thousand. On the other hand, if we talk about Tesla’s cars, then the price of only one car of the company is less than 40 thousand dollars. The name of this car of the company is Model 3 Standard Range Plus.
