NTAGI chief: National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) Chief NK Arora said that many new variants of the COVID-19 variant Omicron are emerging. He said that there is no need to panic because none of them is going to cause serious disease or there is no indication from the data related to India that they are spreading rapidly. These variants include X-series like XE and others. NTAGI Chief NK Arora said in a conversation with news agency ANI, these variants will keep coming up.
INSACOG is keeping an eye on the cases of COVID
Apart from this, sources said on Saturday that the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomic Consortium (INSACOG) is monitoring the cases of XE COVID variant emerging in the country with emphasis on hospitalization patients and severity of cases. Has happened. So there is no need to be worried.
Covid XE Variant: Is the new covid variant XE more dangerous than Omicron? Expert gave these answers
Sources said, “We will not comment on this until this sequence is confirmed after isolation from the virus. We will have to wait to know if it is different or not.”
First case surfaced in Gujarat
A case of XE variant has been reported in Gujarat, which has been confirmed by the Additional Chief Secretary, Health Ministry of Gujarat.
Manoj Agarwal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Government of Gujarat said, “We Maharashtra and Gujarat government are in touch with each other. The Biotechnology Research Center found mutations in the sample, necessitating genome sequencing. That’s why the sample was sent to Kolkata, where they were confirmed to have XE variant in the sample.”
He told that this patient who was found positive had traveled from Maharashtra to Baroda in Gujarat.
How to make XE variant
The XE variant was first revealed in the UK in January. It is made up of Omicron BA.1 and BA.2. According to the WHO, three hybrid or recombinant strains of COVID have been detected so far, out of which the first is XD, the second is XF and the third is XE. Of these, the first and second variants are derived from a combination of Delta and Omicron, while the third is a hybrid strain of Omicron sub-variants.
Characteristics of the XE Variant
The XE variant is made up of two variants of Omicron, so it is believed that its symptoms may also be similar to Omicron variants. Symptoms of XE variant include fatigue, dizziness, headache, sore throat, fever, body ache, runny nose and diarrhea. Apart from this, patients infected with XE may also feel a loss of smell and taste like corona.
So far, there is no evidence to suggest that the XE variant is different from other variants of Omicron. No major threat has come to the fore from this variant found three months ago. The XE variant is not a cause for concern yet.
